My Mother Ran Away Today

G My mother ran away today C G She walked right out the door Packed her tooth brush and pajamas D7 Said, "I can't take it no more." G She said that she was tired F G She said she had her fill D7 Of cooking our meals, washing our clothes G And cleaning up all our spills G She said she'd write us letters C G With no return address D7 She said that she'd be back someday But now she has to rest G She took the plants, she took the cats C G Took our pictures from the wall D7 And though it's only been a few hours ago, G I wish that she would call G I never thought I'd miss her C G Isn't that the way? D7 You never know how much Mom means to ya G Until she runs away
