Am Em Protective of his subjects, this king issued a decree Am B He stood before his kingdom and cried, “This is what we need:” C G Men of valor who will fight the dragon to the death B Em Warriors to go extinguish fierce and fiery breath C G Selfless knights to fight the battle, man against machine B Em B Em Heroes who will give their lives for king and queen! Em The dragon got the King’s best men B They were no match for the beast Am Em To the fire they’d run, and yet one by one B7 Em Every knight wound up deceased Em Now a wee young girl named Valerie B With an artificial heart Am Em To the king did speak and though small and meek B Em She was kind and she was smart Am Em She asked the king, “Why don’t we try approaching peacefully?” Am B The king, he laughed and said, “Dear girl, I’ll tell you what we need!" C G D Em But Valerie was strong of heart, and she knew what she must do C G Bm B Her clockwork heart was guiding her, and she had to follow through Em And so she traveled to the fields B And she called the Dragon near Am Em As it flew on down, it could hear a sound B Em Quite familiar to its ears Em The ticking of her clockwork heart B Sounded so much like its own Am Em And the calming tick had reminded it B Em Of its maker way back home Am Em The dragon bowed to Valerie to willingly concede Am B The humbled king then proudly shouted “She’s the one we need!” C G We need Valerie to tame the dragon for us all B Em Who’d have ever thought our hero would have been so small?
