Pencap Poetry

E E E D# C# I overheard a conversation this mornin’: C# A B Two voices fighting in my brain. C# C# B A A little fellow and a giant in my head. A C# B And I couldn’t help but to listen in. C# The little fellow had ink in his hands. E The little fellow had parchment thoughts. A F# E They come together like poetry and C# D That’s when the giant talks... N.C. He said: E “Put a pen cap on it, A Put a pen cap on it, kid. E Put a pen cap on it, F# Bdim7sus4 E Put a pen cap on it, little kid.” E E D# C# The little poet knew the story--its ending, C# A B But he got a weapon nonetheless. C# C# B A He went charging with a pencil, and that’s all, A C# B When the giant smiled once again. C# The little fellow had lead in his hands. E The little fellow had paper thoughts. A F# E They come together like poetry and C# D That’s when the giant talks… B Oh, he talks… A C# But before they died on that hill, A B The child, once wild, was still. A C# And if you listen close, and listen hard, B You’ll hear a bleeding heart... saying: A C# E B “I’m broken... I’m broken… I’m broken… You won.” A C# E B But just when he’d spoken, he lifted his feet up to run. A C# He shouted at his opponent, D F# B And screamed at the top of his lungs: B “No, I won’t… E “Put a pen cap on it, A Put a pen cap on it, kid. E Put a pen cap on it, F# Bdom7sus4 Put a pen cap on it, no, no!” E “Put a pen cap on it, A Put a pen cap on it, kid. E Put a pen cap on it, F# Bdim7sus4 Put a pen cap on it, on it.” N.C. “Put a pen cap on it, N.C. Put a pen cap on it, kid. N.C. Put a pen cap on it, F# Bdim7sus4 E Put a pen cap on it, little kid.” E I overheard a conversation….
