Dm Dm F Dm C Dm Dm F On one cold and rainy night I was sitting in the light Dm C Dm Of my switchman's shack on my post on the mountain Dm F The storm was pretty bad and the telegraph was dead Dm C Dm But it was just eleven hours 'til the dawn. F C Then much to my surprise the telegraph jumped into life Bb Dm As I read the code I thought could this be true Dm F A train was on it's way headed up the mountain grade Dm C Dm But she didn't have no engineer or crew. Dm F At the other switch they tried to put her on the mountainside Dm C Dm But she kept on coming up the mountain grade Dm F I quickly doused the light to try to see into the night Dm C Dm Maybe I could spot her headlight in the rain.
