F Dm Gm C F Dm Entering the party, blinded by disco light and anarchy Gm C Spilled drinks and perfumed smoke make the room sticky and sweet F Dm It might be nearing midnight or maybe the sun is due to rise soon Gm C Time does not exist, we live and breathe by the moon Bb Am Everybody’s checking just to see if I am somebody Gm F but it’s clear that I’m nobody so I fade into the fray. Bb Am Maybe if I were prettier or skinnier or wore glitter Gm F I could’ve held their focus, but tonight that’s not the aim. F Dm I know I’m gonna leave, feet sore, and arms full of memories Gm C Maybe slightly hazy, but they’ll fill my empty belly for a while F Dm I’m not alone, I’ve got my hundred closest friends with me Gm C I don’t need to know their names, we’re already married by the strangeness of the night Bb Am Everybody’s dancing like there’s nothing left to lose Gm F And we all forget the news, we all forget the news Bb Am And there’s something racing through the crowd we dare not name Gm F Bb Am Gm F But I shake myself and try not to fear a thing I cannot change. F Dm I stumble from the party, blisters begging me to rest my feet Gm C The moon has gone away, in a bitter hypnotic kind of end. F Dm I return home to change my clothes and go to work until 10pm, Gm C F Dm Gm C And wonder if I’ll survive long enough to repeat the night again.
