Verse 1
C#5 C#5/C
Never had a backup plan
F#
But we never gave a damn
F#
We just kept rolling the dice
C#5 C#5/C
When everything was going wrong
F#
The couches we were crashing on
F#
Always got us through the night
Pre-Chorus
C#5/G# C#5/A#
We were just punching, swinging
F#
But came out on top every time
Chorus
C#5 C#5/C F#
Here's to the nights we were choking
C#5 C#5/C F#
On drinks that we couldn't afford
C#5 C#5/C F#
Here's to the days we were broken
C#5 C#5/C F#
Trying but coming up short
C#5 C#5/C F#
We almost died a littlе bit, but we got something out of it
C#5 C#5/C F#
Look at how far we'vе come (We've come)
C#5 C#5/C F#
So, raise up your glass 'cause we're toasting

C#5 C#5/C F#
Here's to you, here's to me, here's to us
Verse 2

Lessons that we never learned

Even through our broken hearts

Pretending we weren't afraid

CHORD EXPLANATIONS
So this song is played entirely in the key of C#, with the chord progression of C#(no5) which is
just a C# and an F follwed by a C#(no5)/C which looks compplex but is really just the same chord as
before but with another C natural played in the octave below (it should sound weird), and the last chord is an
F# which is an F# and a C# played in the same octave.
After youve got that part down, you can play pretty much the entire song since the intro revolves around
those chords and the entire melody is comprised of literally just the notes in the C# major scale
(C#, D#, F F#, G#, A#, C, and C# again)
THE INTRO
The intro is based around the chord progression with each chord being played in arpeggios on the right hand
(I know it sounds hard but its really not), so starting with the first verse you play a C#
(in octaves if possible) on your left hand and play a waltz style pattern on the right hand by playing
C# and then F this will leave you a third beat to go and play C# again. After playing that pattern once,
you will play an alternated style of this with playing C# twice before playing F once. After playing that
pattern twice, you will move your left hand down from the held C# to a C natural for a beat while playing the
same 2 C#'s followed by an F natural. After 1 beat on C you move your left hand down to an F# and will play a
different melody on the right hand. You play in the same style as the last one with the first time being one
and one and the following three times being two and one. The only difference this time is that you will play
an F# in place of the C# and a C# in place of the F so the first time will be one F# and one C# and the
following three times will be two F#'s followed up by one C#
THE PRE CHORUS
This part is pretty much the same as the intro (so read it if you havent because this will make no sense
without that prior knowledge), except that the left hand plays different notes. The right hand will maintain
its EXACT SAME PATTERN FROM BEFORE but now the left hand plays a G# for TWO BEATS and then an A# for two
beats before resolving back to the same F# pattern on both hands as above.
THE CHORUS
So the chorus is based around the same left hand chords as the verses are, (C#, C, F# but the right hand
is wildly different. I can't really explain it other than telling you to listen to the song and that the right
hand is the words, the notes are as follows with the left hand playing its pattern.
C#, D#, F | C, C#, D# | A#, G#, G# | | C#, D#, F | C, C#, D#, | C# |
C#, D#, F | C, C#, D# | A#, G#, G# | | C#, D#, F | C, C#, D#, | C# | |
F D#, F D#, F D#, C# | C#, F#, F#, F#, F F#, F D# | F F F G#, A#, D# | | G# |
C#, D#, F | C, C#, D# | A#, G#, G# | F D#, F | F D#, F | F D#, C# |
F D#, F | F F G# | A#, C#, D#, C#|
