D D G The leaves on that ancient old oak tree are starting to turn A D The same shades as the flames of this fire that I'm watching burn D G There's an unfinished crossword resting on the arm of this chair A G D And for the life of me I can't recall if I'm the one that left it there D G It feels so familiar as I watch you walk in the room A D And at first I don't recognise you but then I damn sure recognise that perfume D G And you kneel down beside me and gently take hold of my hand A D I say baby I'm scared and I'm not sure I know who I am G D And can you help mе remember who it is that I usеd to be? G D And can you tell me the story of my family, my hopes and my dreams? G Did I try to stand for something, would I always fold? D Did I do things when I was young to be proud of when I was old?
