Saltwater

Dm C F Dm C F Dm Saltwater in my blood C I'm cold like the ocean F Found poetry in the water I'm wishing and hoping Dm We spoke each 9th of February C And some days in between F I sat by and watched the phone The day I turned 19 Dm I took it second handed C And understood why F Was there much more to say, Dm C F Than happy birthday and goodbye Dm C F Dm Two days later I'm flying east C I bought my first bottle of wine F I walked the icy streets Tears frozen on my cheeks Dm A caw from up above C I looked up to the sky F I watched as the crows flew Dm C F All the way to Goodyear avenue Dm C F Dm I spoke at the funeral C I read an ancient poem F Of fisherman and birds and bread life out on the ocean Dm I wish you could see me now C The garden I have learned to sow F And I think of you every time I see crows flying over me
