Hows Ernie

C F C Well I don't miss her anymore, the way that I used to. C G Was a time when my heart was broke, but somehow I got through. C F C Still, her father became my best friend, that's one thing for sure. C G C Funny how I miss him, a lot more than her. Am F C "How's Ernie?", hey that's what I would say, C G If I wrote her a letter or I called her up one day. Am F C "How's Ernie?" You know it ended up real bad. C G C But I don't miss her anymore, though I sure do miss her dad. C F C He was kind of deaf in one ear, so I'd kind of have to shout. C G We'd talk guns and horses 'til the lights went out. C F C Why, we'd stay up 'til midnight, drinking whisky and water, C G C And he'd pretend not to know I was sleeping with his daughter. Am F C But I was young and foolish. How was I to know C G Hey, the price I'd for my mistakes was to up and watch her go? C F C And I don't mind that she went and done what I guess she had to do. C G C No, I don't mind, but I wonder why she had to take him too! C G C But I don't miss her anymore, though I sure do miss her dad.
