G C G Em I was just a small boy in a northern Newfie town, G D G Wide eyes and big dreams of leavin' home. C G Em Didn't want to wait 'till I was old enough to wander, G D G So I travelled in my mind when I was alone. C G Em Well, I finally hit the age of adult freedom, G D G Could see if now I'd make it on my own. C G Em No worries, cares, or anyone to guide me, G D G It wasn't long before the turns I took were wrong. C G Em And I spent some nights behind the gates of freedom, G D G Was my first taste of loneliness and fear. C G Em A-and Monday morning they said, boy, you're leavin', G D G And I swore that I would never go back there. C G Em I've been starin' out this window at the water, trees and stone, G D G And dreamin' of the road that takes me home. C G Em Well, years have passed by since I left that small town, G D G I'm back there many thousand miles away. C G Em And I settled on in this one room apartment, G D G Wishin' I was leavin' here today. C G Em 'Cause I miss my mom and dad, and all my family, G D G I miss starin' at the water, trees, and stones.
